Lt. Dhaneshchandra Bhavsar

Swar Sadhana Music School was founded in India by Lt. Dhaneshchandra Bhavsar, a visionary musician and educator who dedicated his life to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Hindustani classical music. Under the esteemed traditions of the Mewati Gharana and Gwalior Gharana, he created a high-caliber platform for aspiring artists to receive authentic and rigorous training.

Recognized as one of the legendary harmonium and sitar players of his time, Lt. Bhavsar began performing with Late Pandit Jasrajji at the remarkable age of 15. In addition to his musical accomplishments, he served as a mathematician and principal of a science college in Bilimora, seamlessly blending intellectual pursuit with artistic mastery.

After settling in Canada, his legacy continued through his son, who established the Canadian chapter of Swar Sadhana Music School in 2004. Today, the school thrives with the support of a dedicated team of highly accomplished teachers, committed to nurturing the next generation of classical musicians.

The name Swar Sadhana holds profound significance:

  • Swar represents the fundamental notes of music
  • Sadhana symbolizes a meditative practice that brings peace to the soul and focus to the mind
